Don't Drop the Stick

Don't Drop the Stick

An Eagle Story

Funny how just a stick can be used to make a life time decision with an eagle.

In psalms 91 we read he shall cover you with His feathers, And under his wings you shall take refuge

The eagle wing represents the divine help of God in our lives.

This story is focused on the female and male eagle choosing each other as a mate.  In their twitterpated spring time state they begin to play with this stick at the heigts of over 10,000 feet in the air.  The female eagle flies in a figure 8 pattern at the beginning of this most important ceremony in her life.  The figure 8 represents infinity to the christian as we know.  And to be compared to the eagle so many times in the word of God it does behoove us to study this most excellent creature in the light of the gospel eyes of our heavenly father as the maker and the one who compares us to his eagles in a very vibrant and an alive sort of way.  We will see the Lord's love and reasons for training us in this light as well.

In this process the female eagle chooses a small stick to start with not to over burden the male eagle and she takes it up in the air and then she releases it in a childlike but very serious attempt to see if the male eagle can catch it and bring it back to her.  At this stage the eagles are around just 3 years old.  The male eagle is under much pressure in the process because this could decide his fate for life and his skill in catching the stick could be marriage vows for life or it could mean he will have to  learn this skill if he is to be accepted by any female eagle.    The female eagle again chooses a bigger stick and drops it in the same manner seeing if the male eagle has the extra  skill to catch this one.   This prenuptual agreement in the making can go on for days unti the female eagle makes her last move.  She will fly lower and lower choosing a bigger stick each time until she is around 500 feet from the ground .

Now the reason she is doing this is because when she makes her nest with this male eagle and they have baby eagles they will have to teach them how to fly.  It is the male eagles responsibility to catch the ones that fail to fly the first time out or so .  So when she releases the stick for the last time very close to the gound if the male eagle drops the stick then  she chases him off. She is not satisified he will make a good father to her children if  he drops the stick.

Whewwwwwwwwwwwwwww

***Don't drop the stick male eagles your fate could depend on it ***

The male eagle is accepted if he does catch the stick and he and the female fly high in the air lock talons and scream with excitment as they turn over and over into a full  circle motion.  A circle dance of completeness.

Eagles are totally committed to their mates for life.

In the case of one eagles death they choose another mate that is not attached to an eagle already.
